Newsletter Quarter 1, Week 2

What are we learning this week?
Writer’s Workshop-   We are learning how to be independent writers. Students will learn how to plan a story, how to retell their story across pages and how to add details.
Math- You child will be learning to represent ones, tens, and hundreds in different ways. Write 2 and 3 digit numbers through 200. Compare totals of ones and tens.
Reader’s Workshop- We are learning how to ask and answer questions before, during and after reading. We will continue to practice building our stamina. We will read and think deeply about the most important parts of a story, especially the beginning and ending. Finally, we will practice speaking in complete sentences with a partner.
Science: Students will be able to listen to, identify, and describe various sounds with the whole group.   Students will be able to listen to sounds heard while playing the mystery sound game and identify the mystery objects with a small group.  Students will be able to share their sound discoveries and predictions with the whole class. Students will be able to independently record their mystery sound predictions and the real sounds on the Mystery Sound sheet.

Please bring in 1 or more toilet paper rolls for your child by Friday. We are making an instrument!
