The LAST week : (

Thank you for coming out to the Writer's Museum last Thursday. We had a great turn out.  Also, thank you for providing snacks--we had some very hungry writers!

Celebration:

We will have our "Homework Completion" celebration this Thursday, June 27th. If the weather permits, the party will include water games outside on the field. Please send a change of clothes in case your child gets too wet.

A letter was sent home about this week on Friday. Check your child's backpack please. If you would like to provide a snack on Friday, please email me at lchatterton@wcpss.net

Talent Show:

You are invited to attend the annual "Lake Myra Talent Show" this Friday, June 28th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the "gym-torium."  Sydney is performing! Can't wait!

June 24th- June 28th:

This week, we will cover the following in each subject...and much, much more!

  • Draw a picture, graph and a bar graph (with single-unit scale) to represent a data set with up to four categories. Solve simple put together, take-apart, and compare problems using information presented in a bar graph

Language Arts

  • Read and comprehend literature, including stories, and poetry, in the grades 2-3 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range
  • Produce complete sentences when appropriate to task and situation in order to provide requested detail or clarification
  • Write narratives in which a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events is re-counted and told in details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure
  • With guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing

Research

  • Interpret maps of the school and community that contain symbols, legends and cardinal directions
  • Interpret the meaning of symbols and the location of physical and human features on a map (cities, railroads, countries, continents, oceans, etc.)
