May 27th - May 31st:
This week, we will cover the following in each subject:
Math
- Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes
- Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters
- Measure to determine how much longer one object is than another, expressing the length difference in terms of a standard length unit
- Represent whole numbers as lengths from 0 on a number line diagram with equally spaced points corresponding to the numbers 0, 1, 2, etc. and represent whole-number sums and differences within 100 on a number line diagram
Language Arts
- Recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words
- Compare and contrast the most important point presented by two texts on the same topic
- Use knowledge of language and its conventions when writing, speaking, reading, or listening
- Write informative/explanatory texts in which the topic is introduced, facts and definitions to develop points are used, and has a concluding statement or section
Research
- Understand animal life cycles
- Summarize the life cycle of animals including: birth, developing into an adult, reproducing, aging and death
