- Kleenex
- Objects for our estimation jar (food, candy, erasers...anything) Every week I place items in the estimation jar. Students estimate and the closest wins a treasure from our treasure box.
Thank you for recycling items and having your child bring them in! We can't wait for our flowers to bloom! : )
April 29th - May 3rd:
This week, we will cover the following in each subject:
Math
- Partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size squares and count to find the total number of them
- Partition cirlces and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc. and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape
Language Arts
- Read on level text orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression on successive reading
- Produce, expand, and rearrange complete simple and compound sentences
- Describe how words and phrases (ex: regular beats, alliteration, rhymes, repeated lines) supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song
- Write informative/explanatory texts in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section
- Participate in shared research and writing projects (ex: read a number of books on a single topic to produce a report)
- Recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question
Research
- Give examples of ways in which people depend on the physical environment and natural resources to meet basic needs
- Explain how people positively and negatively affect the environment
